Books can lead anyone on a path to success, teaching students how to surpass challenges and fight for a better future.

Senior Jaden Jeune reads The Things They Carried in class.

“Teaching different students at different levels can help them grow not only within their curriculum but also as humans and help form their personalities,” reading teacher Ms. Sullivan said.

These books can also help parents unite more with their children so they can communicate with them better than before.

“It would be a lot of fun and allow parents to be involved in their children’s education,” Ms. Sullivan said.

These books can relate to life in the real world, giving the students true examples of how they can make their dreams come true.

Books can also show what the advantage is for achieving a goal and what people have gone through to reach their objective.

“A lot of the time we as humans often judge somebody and perceive them to be somebody they are not,” Ms. Sullivan said.

Books can also give meaning to people’s real life. Showing what this person went through and how they managed to fight past that obstacle.

“The book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, is about this girl going through high school and being disliked by every other student. Then she starts learning and growing into a new world with these circumstances.” Ms. Sullivan said.

Although some books can have bad stories and endings in them, they can also give life lessons to learn from. Proving to children and parents that they do not need to live in a world of hatred.

“You need to allow others to express themselves, give their side of the story, and learn to not judge before you know them,” Ms. Sullivan said.

Through these stories, it proves that no matter what someone looks like or what they go through, they are stronger than they look.

Books may have a weird title or a very unsettling theme on the outside of the book, but they can be something that could help you see the bright side in life and try to change for the better.

“I think the book is trying to show readers that things are not as they seem and that sometimes, being curious is a good thing,” Nyla Johnson said.

This shows that people should not judge a book by its cover, for it can lead to better success and achievements in a person’s life.

“I think it gives them an outlook on how it feels to be an immigrant in America and an outlook on young age, Elise Porter said.
