Boys basketball gears up for a strong season

Boys' basketball discusses their skills and their teamwork so they can improve their game and evaluate.

When the warriors go into practice, they drive to get better. They work on their handles, their catch and shooting ability, and their defense, trying to defend their set opponents up and down the court.

¨Always give one hundred percent because when you give it your all, you will make it to the top, and that's when you know you made it,¨ Jayden Carridine said.   

When games are played, Carridine puts in his all last year, his first year as a freshman, and averages about 9 points a game. 

¨ teamwork is the main part of being great cause when people work together in one setting, everything can be accomplished and done right,¨ Naquan Griffin said.

The team meets for practices Monday through Thursday and does every drill they can.

¨Keep practicing. Never let someone tell you 're too small or too slow cause anyone can do anything when they want to," Daquian Foster said. 

Daquain hasn't played basketball yet, but he really likes our team. He says he can add some players and wants to be a part of the team.

¨Showing up to every practice gets you good playing time, and when you get good playing time, you want that urge to get better, so you always need to show up, in my opinion," Vonte Duke said.

Vonte was on the team last year and said he will be on the team this year. Basketball is his favorite sport. It makes him happy, and he plans to keep doing it.

¨I think basketball is a skill, but a mental thing because you can be really good at basketball physically but mentally you're not there; you need IQ because you can make smart plays," Brian Miller said.

The basketball season starts in November, so the games will start in late fall. People should think about joining the team because they have a good community and fans, and everyone should support the U.
