Boys basketball varsity is looking for a good season this year. Last year they accomplished a 18-13 record last season beating Simeon which was a top 25 team in Illinois. This year the Warriors are ranked number 18 in 3A preseason top 25.

The Warriors defeated the Richards Bulldogs on Dec. 16, to improve to 6-2 behind Joseph Jones' 14 points and nine rebounds, Zyheir Gardner's (pictured) ten points, and Joseph Alexander's nine points and six rebounds. Photo courtesy of Mr. Mueller.

According to Coach Jackson, he believes the upcoming season will be great with the new group of guys that are on the team.

"I feel this upcoming season is going to be something special. With this group of guys we have new transfers that can make this special. They went through the ups and downs as freshmen, learned leadership and are now leading the younger guys I’ve brought up. And they have grit and discipline that will carry them a long way,”Coach Jackson said.

According to  Coach Jackson, he thinks  this team is better than last year's team. He also said this year's team is more coachable than last year's team.

"I wholeheartedly believe this team is better than last year. The players take coaching, no matter if I’m barking at them, good or bad. They do what’s expected and that’s what sets them apart from last year’s team. They hold each other accountable and teach the young. '’

George Curley, the 5 '10 captain was looking nice this offseason in summer league averaging 12.5 points per game. He also had some words to pinch in agreeing with Coach Jackson.

'’Yes I think this team is better than last year's team because we listen and play harder than last year’s team. We also take the coaching and we don't talk back like last year's team.''

According to Kahree Burton, the forward for Crete, another captain claims he wants to take off this season and lead the team.

'’This year I would like to accomplish averaging 15 points per game. That would help the team win. I would also like to average at least 6 assists per game that shows im getting my team involved"

According to Coach Jackson they are expected to make some noise this season and bring home some special things.

'’My biggest accomplishment  is getting guys ready for this season. I would like to win more games. These  tournaments bring home some property and beat everyone twice that we have to play in conference and also teach more of the discipline aspect of the game.'’

Their first season game is at home vs Thornwood High School last year the Warriors lost to Thornwood at home on senior night they are looking to get back.

'’The first home game will be against Thornwood December 5, the expectations is to beat them and protect the House of Warriors.'’
