“Feeling good about the last win was a little slow, so we are just piecing it together for right now,” said senior Devyn Lindey.
Crete-Monee had a great game against Lindbloom Math and Science Academy on Jan 27. They won in triple overtime with lead scorer Jyaveion Green, who scored 15 points to lead Crete to victory. They won the game 71-67.
“I feel great. I scored the ball well, helped rebound, and facilitated for the team for us to end with the win. The mentality was to play hard and win. We are always in the game with tough teams, but we don’t come out with the win, so we were focusing on playing hard, making smart plays, and escaping with the win,” Green said.
Crete has been silenced compared to many years before this year. Crete-Monee basketball has had a positive impact and outcome.
“It was a great feeling every day. It’s always someone talking bad about the basketball team. We finally reached that point. Everyone that was once talking was silent, and that feeling felt great; now we just have to continue with the same energy and effort to close the season,”
said Junior Jordan Outlaw.
CMHS season is coming to a close; they are hungry to finish strong. The Warriors are 12-13. They feel their record does not define them as a team and push for a positive record.
“Right now, we are doing good; it’s just the little things we gotta clear up to be a better team. We all as a team have to be on the same page; if we come out locked in, we should be able to finish the regular season strong, and we all confident and ready to play,” said senior Isaiah Price.
The teams the Warriors play to close out the season are Bloom Township, ranked #3 Thornton Wildcats, and rival Kankakee 2x. All of these teams are tough but are crete monee warriors locked in. It’s set to be a great game.
