CMHS reacts to the election

Donald Trump won the presidential election on November 5 with 312 electoral votes to Kamala Harris’ 226. Everyone who voted needed to decide which campaign mattered more to the community and the people.

Looking back, Kalil Hawkins believed that Harris would win because she would have supplied more freedom to the country. 

Grace Janecko thought she would have played a major role in the election because misinformation spreads fast, and people can be convinced easily.

The 2024 election was a highly anticipated event because the outcome of this year’s really impacted the country and its politics of the future. 

“If Kamala Harris wins the presidential election, it will be revolutionary and make history,” Aaden Cole said about a week before election day. 

This year’s presidential election was highly contested, with the future of the country at stake, as both major and minor political parties tried for the White House and control of Congress.

“I believe that they will impact the world very differently depending on how the election turns out, but ultimately, it will be fine,” Jaliyah Spruiell said. 

The outcome of the 2024 presidential election will also have a lasting impact on the future of American politics.

Matthew Smith addressed the politics between the major parties, which are in a deep battle with a deeply divided country, increasing tension between different ideologies; this election was one of the most heated and polarizing events in history.

According to Nyree Gholsen, the major priorities in the United States of America and around the world are gun laws, gun safety, and mainly the war in Israel. Lastly, Gholsen said that the most important is robbery in the area.

“It will affect the politics by choosing to handle the matters in what way they seem best, which can either be good or bad,” Ladell Aleman said. 

The election was a crucial moment for the country, as it determined who would lead the nation.

Cole believed that Harris had a higher chance of winning the election because she had way more appeal and people on her side than Trump. However, this wasn’t the case, as Trump won the popular and electoral votes, something a president has not accomplished since 2004.
