The sheer volume of Christmas movies allows for some fun dissection on the mountain of these sorts of films.

Special Education teachers Ms. Halfedt and Ms. Mitchell pose for a picture, showing their Christmas spirit during the Twelve Days of Christmas Spirit Week.

Three people, Social Studies Teacher Mr. Swanson, student Tahsiah D’Andrea, and math teacher Ms. King give their takes on their favorite Christmas films.

“I’ll have to say that’d be National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” Mr. Swanson said, stating his favorite movie. “I’d go with The Polar Express,” D’Andrea said. “Any movie in the Die Hard series,” Ms. King said.

Christmas Vacation, Die Hard, and Polar Express are definite contenders among the best Christmas movies. In fact, Christmas Vacation got a 7.5/10 on IMDb. Anyone who’s watched any film will have a favorite scene or joke in the film, and most, if not all, of the scenes are funny to at least someone in the audience, which isn’t much of a surprise. Die Hard and Polar Express are both more plot-driven, though they do stand out as distinctly good movies,

As for Mr. Swanson’s favorite scene, “The sled scene, where he puts the spray on the sled, and he just goes at 60 mph and ends up screaming across the freeway,” he said.

For what the social studies teacher thinks makes a good Christmas film, he believes that “What makes a good Christmas movie is one that captures the spirit of Christmas.”

Tahsiah agreed with the statement, “Just generally happy, lighthearted stuff.”

Ms. King, meanwhile, prefers a Christmas with at least somewhat of a plot. Specifically, she likes “plots about overcoming familial issues.”

While people like a good story, sometimes it’s best just to take it easy for the holidays; after all, it’s supposed to be the most cheerful time of the year. A Christmas movie isn’t meant to take things seriously for people to have a good watch. All a film studio needs to make a good

Christmas films are an interesting idea for a plot or just a funny comedy film, and they’re golden.

Here’s where the “bad” part of this title comes from, as the three people previously mentioned in this story disclose what they think is the worst Christmas film.

“I’ve never actually seen a bad Christmas movie,” Tahsiah D’Andrea said.

“My least favorite movie would have to be when Star Wars tried to make a Christmas special,” Mr. Swanson said.

This is a mainstream take, as space operas like Star Wars don’t lend themselves well to the holiday genre.
