The team continues to place in the top 20, and if the team keeps the same energy, they can place higher and bring many awards home.

Senior Amy Mojica has been on the team for two years and thinks the season is going great. Cross country motivates Mojica's day and also helps her to encourage others to keep running.

"It's been going awesome. I made a lot of friends, and it's awesome running with friends," Mojica said.

The team helps others with PR and helps when someone is injured. Mojica said that they also strive to do their best and bring awards home.

Sophomore Evelyn Stolzenbach has been running cross country since seventh grade and feels the team has had many PRs this season.

"I just remember that if anything hurts, it's all in my head and that winning is a good motivation, too," said Stolzenbach.

Stolzenbach has also had many PRs this season and has shown it since the beginning of the season. Though it can be tiring, she is an extraordinary runner and remains in the top six.

"I think we could bring a couple all-conference awards home," Stolzenbach said.

Junior Mercy Bautista recently joined the team and has been enjoying herself, even if it's been a short timeframe. During this time, she has made new friendships.

"Having positive things to say in my mind," Bautista said. Her best run was three miles in 34 minutes.

Though she's been on the team for a few weeks, she has been doing great and striving to improve. They do many workouts to train so they can get better every time.

Coach Werner feels good about this season, and all the girls appear to be getting along.

"The team has a lot of new runners that were growing, but so far, everyone has improved their times already in the first five weeks of the season, my veteran runners have already PR from last season," Coach Werner said.

Coach Werner said the goal for this season would be to place higher at a conference they did last year. At that conference, they placed fourth, and she hopes they place higher this year.
