Exciting New Indie Music Releases!

Over the past few months all kinds of new music has been released with a range of genres. Some artists have already come to release everything from new albums to singles.

One of the biggest albums released recently was Five Easy Hot Dogs by Mac DeMarco. The album, released on January 20th, is composed of fourteen instrumentals created while Mac took a hiatus from touring and decided to travel for an extended period of time. He completed each instrumental song in the city he was in at that time, ranging from Chicago to Portland.

The album has gained lots of attention for being Mac’s first release in 3 years on top of him saying he was on a hiatus. After listening to the album full way through I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mac creates beautiful instrumentals and this is no different. As he is still consistent with his overall style the album itself was enjoyable.

Another big release in the month of February was the highly anticipated single Glue Song by the artist beabadoobee

On valentines day this year Glue Song was officially released after months of teasing the song while small clips of the song were trending on the social media app TikTok up until the official release.

I was one of the many people anticipating this single and after listening to it a few times I have to say it did not disappoint. The sound is consistent with beabadobee’s style and follows most of the unreleased version of the song that people fell in love with.

“It has this great narrative of somebody being your person and being stuck to them forever…it’s just so upbeat and sincere.” said Carlos Zaldarraiga

The vocals of beabadoobee are soft and really highlight the warm feeling her songs bring to the listener. It’s truly the perfect valentine's day release.

The last single is Younger and Dumber by Indigo De Souza which was released to announce her upcoming new album All of This Will End coming out in late April.

The song while it is, in my opinion, not one of Indigo’s best releases it is truly a gorgeous song vocally and truly shows listeners her range.

“There’s such a deeper meaning to the lyrics in this song and it’s honestly one of my favorites she has released” said Delia Koehl

The anticipation for the full album is truly being brought forth by this beautiful song and I truly cannot wait to hear what the rest of this album will sound like. Her unique music can truly get anyone hooked.

Overall just some of the new indie music released this month did not disappoint and I truly cannot wait for what’s in store this coming year.
