Crete Monee won that game because Derrin Couch threw six touchdowns for 15/21 and 397 passing yards. But he also had help from Dorian Patterson, who was the top receiver he threw to that game.

When Crete-Monee lost to Richards and St. Charles North in the first two games, that was a setback, but in the games they won against Thorton and Thornwood, they scored more than 50 points. To prove to the school that their losses did not mean anything and that CMHS was still on top.

¨Our first two games were a setback, but a great team always makes a great comeback,¨ Josh Hill said.

Crete Monee, the JV quarterback, says that to be able to play quarterback, you need to be able to see the field, like know what defensive formation they are running, and know who to throw the ball to.

¨I feel that the JV team will be going undefeated this year¨ August Labranch said.

When I interviewed Braylon Charles, he told me that the varsity team should be undefeated this year and should have never lost the two games they lost. But Braylon feels if they play them two teams right now, they will give them a belt because they are way better than when they first started the season.

¨We should be 5-0, but we are going to get better¨ By Braylon Charles

In the game against Danville, Crete-Monee really showed why they should be 5-0, beating Danville 70-14. This upset the Danville players on their two-hour bus ride home.

“Danville was sorry we need a real challenge like Kankakee,” Jayvien Pearson said.

Since Crete Monee’s 0-2 start, they have won three straight games in all blowout games. They have beaten Thornton, Thornwood, and Danville with 50 points or more. They are looking to win the rest of their games to be able to win conference so they can get a week off before the playoffs so they can mentally prepare.

“We need that break so we can rest our body and mentally prepare before the playoffs,”” AJ Houston said.
