Students at Crete-Monee High School are buzzing with excitement as Homecoming Week 2026 kicked off Sept. 28 through Oct. 4, bringing themed spirit days, pep rallies, the big football game, and the long-awaited dance that celebrated school pride and tradition.
The week-long event is one of the most anticipated times of the school year, giving students a chance to come together, show off their Warrior pride, and enjoy a break from the usual classroom routine.
“I feel good about homecoming coming up because I like to dress up and put on a good show,” student Jayla Nailer said. “I do feel glad I participated in homecoming because it’s a great experience to have in my junior year.”
The anticipation was especially high this year as students prepared to see who was crowned Homecoming King and Queen. With so many students who ran, the competition has become a major talking point across campus, and excitement has built up through social media posts, campaign posters, and hallway conversations.

“I don’t know if I’m gonna win, but I just want to make the court,” Nailer said. “I’m very confident in the person I picked, but I do wish the best for all.”
“It doesn’t matter who wins to me, as long as the competition is fair and balanced,” said
Kennedy Joseph, a senior. “I’m confident in whom I picked for the Homecoming Court.”
While the competition for Homecoming Court is at the center of attention, other students are just as excited for the chance to express their creativity through fashion and style.
Jayden Franklin said he was ready to make a statement with his outfit and see who stands out on the dance floor.
“I’m wearing green for homecoming, and it’s going to look good,” Franklin said. “Plus, I’m so excited to see whose outfit steals the spotlight.”
Beyond the competition and the dance, Homecoming Week represents something deeper for many students — a chance to build community, strengthen friendships, and make lasting memories that define their high school experience.
“I’m going with my friends to homecoming,” Joseph said. “Yes, I’m going with Josh and Jayla to get food.”
For students like Nailer, Homecoming is more than just a school event — it’s a celebration of togetherness, confidence, and tradition.
“I’m really glad I decided to go,” Nailer said. “It’s been such a fun experience, and I can’t wait to celebrate with my friends after the dance.”
