Students wore leis in honor of spirit week at the Homecoming game on Sept. 22.

During the game, the student section was very supportive and hyped. They supported the team in many ways, such as cheering for the game, free swag people tossed in the stands, and rooting on the band and student mascots that paraded down the aisle in front of the stands.

Students showed their school spirit by wearing leis handed out at the gate or wearing spirit wear for our theme bikers versus surfers.

Some students also took their shirts off and wrote Warriors on their chests. Our cheer team helped the crowd get into it and say the Crete-Monee cheer during each touchdown.

“The student section was very lively and active,” said Freshman AJ Houston

At the game, there were also food trucks for the students to get the chance to buy something to eat. The trucks had cheese fries, burgers, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders. There was also an ice cream truck full of different flavors.

Alongside the game at the halftime show, the 2023 homecoming court was announced to walk across the field.

Representing the freshman court, we had Marisa Marbury escorted by Zakari Sanders, Pauline Magnaye accompanied by Jayden Franklin, and lastly, Nikayla Dawson escorted by Tyler Fears.

Representing the sophomore court, we had Isis (Izzy) Shores escorted by Braylon Charles, Kamiya Tisdale accompanied by Keyshon James, and Sydney Maxwell escorted by Corion Harris.

Representing the junior court, Martiese Crawford escorted Makayla Richmond, Erie Martin escorted Leilanie Vargas, and lastly, Mikayla Henson was escorted by Sebastian Chandler.

Finally, representing our senior court, we had Philisa Lackey escorted by Tayshuan Russel, Kennedy Lawson accompanied by Hassan Hilard, and Faith Phillips escorted by David Fears.

Overall, everyone who ran in our homecoming court looked terrific and showed up for their walk across the field.

“I felt special with everyone looking at me and cheering for me,” said Freshman Marisa Marbury

After the game, the staff turned all the lights on the field out and presented a fireworks show. The students seemed to like the show and showed this by recording and taking pictures of the fireworks.
