Before the Presidential Inauguration, President Trump announced that he would be starting and leading the biggest Immigration deportation in history. Whether or not that statement still holds up today, students can see what is unfolding in the country.

President Trump stated that one of the first areas and places to be hit the hardest with the process of deporting illegal immigrants was Chicago.
With Chicago being one of the first principal focus points in the deportation process, we are receiving and learning a lot of news about the mass deportations of illegal immigrants, whether or not it is on social media news outlets or from people around you.
Whether or not your political beliefs align with this decision, it is a significant event in our country that people should be aware of. Either way, a very controversial move like this is going to turn the heads of a lot of people in America, with a lot of people agreeing and a lot of people saying otherwise.
A decision like this can change many people's lives for the better or for the worse. Either way, it can significantly impact some individuals' everyday lives.
"I can be going about my day, get pulled over by an ICE agent and be prosecuted over by an ICE agent and be prosecuted as an immigration or as a citizen, and just by looking at me, they won't give a second thought but to question me. Not only that scene they are looking at me, it makes me question every move I make because the moment I decide to stick out is the very moment I can be in a deportation center or police station," senior Nicolas Cruz said.
Cruz said this can and has affected his everyday life, causing him to worry about all the things that can happen just by being outside.
"I don't think there are a lot of pros for removing them except maybe removing the fear from some people," senior Johnathan Jones said.
Jones believes that although the pros may be limited, some good can still come out of it, just like Cruz claims that "some pros are getting rid of highly ranked criminals."
Senior Kevin Flores also agrees with this statement. He said this could have a very positive outcome for the US. According to Homeland Security, in 2024, when a significant influx of illegal migrants came into the US, there was a flux of crimes.
With some pros, there are also cons.
"One of the biggest cons is in the workforce. Most immigrants don't have high degrees, so they are placed in hard laboring jobs like farming and mechanics. It will lead to high levels of popular demand on products," Cruz said.
No matter how you see it, this event should be noticed by everyone in America, whether you think it will affect you or not.
