There is a debate about whether the prom tickets at Crete Monee High School should be lowered in price.

Prom dresses can cost a lot more than people think, and with that, the cost of the high prom ticket budget can cut into some girls’ spending for other things.
“As a girl, I did spend a lot of money on my prom dress because I wanted this specific dress, and I had to go to the store to buy it and then get it tailored in time ,” senior Leslie Noels said.
“To me, I didn’t really feel like the prom ticket interrupted my prom dress spending because I had found the dress I wanted a while ago, so I pre-bought it ahead of time," senior Neaveh Jackson said.
With the prom tickets’ price, some seniors expect more things to be at the prom.
“With me spending $80 to go to prom, and it’s a lot of people in my grade, so I know that’s a lot of money alone. I hope that Crete brought memorable things for us seniors to remember for our final high school experience before graduation,” senior Tyshawn Laurence said.
Even though some may think $80 is a lot for a ticket, some seniors are pretty neutral.
“I didn’t care honestly about the ticket price because I knew that prom would be expensive for me since I gotta get my hair, nails, and makeup done and then have to pay for my dress and shoes. I kinda expected to be spending a decent amount of money anyways,” senior Lelani Austin said.
Prom tickets have always been high in some people’s eyes, depending on the generation you were born in.
“My ma joked about the price of the ticket, but I knew she didn’t really care since she already had some money put away for my prom night,” senior Keyshon Warner said.
Roughly everyone spends a lot of money on prom, even without ticket costs.
“I remember when my sister went, my mom and dad had spent, I’d say $900 on her because she wanted to go in this one car we had rented for her and her boyfriend so they could pop out looking fresh, and her dress and stuff, but I feel like with maybe a little more simple,” senior Ja’quan Michaels said.
Prom is a big high school experience because it’s the day you dress nicely with your friends and celebrate your achievement of graduating high school.
“I have been looking forward to it since freshman year because, like everybody always heard about prom, of course, but I always wanted to like to wear a real nice dress and just look good come my senior year, but now that it’s here, it’s kinda like a deja vu moment like a surreal type of thing," senior Katie Li said.
