Everyone appeared to have a great time at the Masquerade Ball Homecoming this year.

“I think the music was alright. [It was] definitely better than the music we had at the 8th-grade dance,” said Riah Shores.

Students enjoyed themselves at the Masquerade Ball Homecoming on Sept. 22.

Many found the masquerade theme to be enjoyable.

“Yes! I like this theme even though no one is really dressing up. Whoever did dress up for the theme looked amazing!” Miah Ortebra said.

Students at the dance had complaints about the fact that you had to pay for your food. Many said they should have made the food free since they had to pay for the tickets.

” I mean, I didn’t really care all that much ’cause I didn’t eat, but it was dumb that you had to pay even though we paid to get in,” Lyric Buckley said.

“Me personally, I didn’t even care for real; it doesn’t hurt me. I have a job so that I can make the money back,” Alexis Michken said.

Things got hectic in the gym with the free water bottles the school was handing out. People spilled water on the floor all over, and bottles and food littered the floor, which caused some students’ outfits to get ruined.

“I don’t understand why people have to do the most. Why can’t people be mature and throw the trash away in the garbage? I almost slipped while walking with one of my close friends,” said Mackenzie Hardritch.

“I was inside the gym most of the time, and I didn’t even really notice the water until I walked out of the circle. I don’t know why they [some students] couldn’t just put them in the trash, though. But that’s beyond me,” said Micheal Comando.

Students loved the photo opportunities that the school gave them. Although the lines were very long, they were still happy with the outcome of their pictures.

“It was cool. I took pictures with my girl. The line was mad long, though. I was about to leave the line, but my girlfriend made me stay. The pictures turned out good,” said Josh Skimen.

“My girls and I took pictures together and ate them up. I liked the one inside the gym mainly because it was cold outside. But the little setup they had was cute, too. So I wasn’t even mad about it,” Aubrey Brown said.

Students celebrate homecoming on Sept. 23.

The homecoming was filled with dancing, laughter, and socializing among the student body. Everyone had a great time.

“I had a blast with my friends at homecoming catching up, taking photos, and dancing to our favorite songs,” said sophomore Braylon Charles.

Homecoming had a lot going on, like people taking pictures, sitting down and talking, and even dancing.

The music was a big part of homecoming. Around halfway through, everyone was on the dance floor, jumping around and showing off their moves. They played some of 2023’s hits, which everyone enjoyed. Lots of people started circles and even some crowd surfing happened.

The food was good, but the kids had to pay for it. Only a few people were happy that if kids are already paying to get in the dance and for an outfit, makeup, hair, etc, they should be able to eat for free. They had nachos, pretzels, candy, chips, and pop for sale, but they could have served real food instead of snacks and made the kids buy it.

“Homecoming was okay. I loved the music they actually played stuff we listened to, which everyone really enjoyed. I didn’t like how we had to pay for food when we already paid for the ticket and bought an outfit. I feel like the masquerade theme wasn’t the best because nobody actually went for the theme. We should have done something more eye-catching,” said Kennedy Sykes.

Thanks to Ms. Mhyre, Mr.Fitzgerald, and the rest of the staff who helped set it up, they put in a lot of time and effort, and it came out nice. The court slashes were very pretty, and everyone looked so good.

“I loved setting up the dance for the students. I do what I do for a reason. I was here at 10 a.m. to help set up the decorations. I had a great time, and I hope everyone else did.” said Ms. Mhyre.
