Students, staff, and, most importantly, the athletes are excited because Crete has decided to develop more equipment and new fields. People think this will be a good addition to the school program and will turn out well.

“They take a lot of pride in their work on and off the field, so showing the school pride will help and get more fans to come out and enjoy the games,” Ms. Foote said.

Athletes receive many comments on what they do and how they do it, so it’s important for our fields, jerseys, etc., to look good. With our fanbase and new stuff coming up, our community believes that we will achieve levels [of play] we never thought we would have next year.

“I think it’s progression. As softball coaches, we have wanted a new field for a long time. I think it gives us an even playing ground, an opportunity for soccer to play more games, better football fields, and a better facility to show the fans,” Ms. Foote said

Some people have been waiting for new additions to the school like this and think they should have started working on the project years ago.

“I think it has taken Crete so long to build stuff like this because, financially, I think the community should start putting money in to help our school if we can prove to them why we deserve it and need it,” Dominick Jackson said.

When all the seasons start, hopefully, all the fields and new upgrades will be done in time and ready to get started to compete. Everyone is here and excited about the new stuff coming.

“Hopefully the new upgrades for the sports are done in time for the seasons, but I have mixed thoughts. It all depends on the weather and if the people working on it are working every day and missing no days.” Nathaniel Jones said.

New jerseys for some of our sports teams have also been brought into the conversation. Since we are getting new facilities, it would be an attention-getter for fanbases and the community with every new addition.

“Every year, a new class comes into the high school. I think they should add at least one new jersey for every sport to show the students how much they care and how hard we work in the sports industries,” Jace Harris said.

Crete-Monee High School is finally getting new sports fields after several years. The school is adding new football, soccer, baseball, and softball fields. These fields should be done by the fall of 2025 or later! These fields should be a great addition to the school and our sports program, attracting more people to attend more of our games and also wanting to play sports here at our school.

People have had opinions on our school's new fields. Some people love them, and some people don't care for them.

Junior Anthony Monegan said, "I feel like the athletes who work hard here at the school for their sports deserve these new fields, and I also feel like we should get new jerseys that go along with the school's new fields."

Anthony thinks Crete should provide new sports jerseys since we're getting new sports fields, too, because that makes the most sense.

Most people who go to Crete-Monee High School believe that the fields will look great in the future and will be a great addition to the school. The new fields should make our school stand out more and attract more people to look at Crete!

Sophomore Jace Harris said, "We should be getting these new sports fields and deserve new jerseys. We deserve these because the athletes here at Crete-Monee work hard on and off the field, and we should be rewarded for what we do."

Jace Harris feels that every sports athlete at the school should be rewarded for their work in the classroom and on the field.

Senior Josh Hill said, "I feel like we should've gotten these new sports fields last year because the seniors deserve it the most and were about to graduate, so we should all be rewarded, but I'm happy for the athletes here at the school.

Josh Hill feels we should've gotten these new sports fields for the 2024-2025 school year, but he's happy the students who aren't seniors get to build new legacies on the latest sports fields built at Crete-Monee High School this upcoming fall!

¨I feel like it's about time we're getting new sports fields, and I think all the athletes here at Crete deserve them, Sophomore Kaylee Slattery said. "I think we should get new jerseys for our new sports fields so we look the part and play the part.¨

Crete-Monee High School's newest sports fields have grabbed a lot of attention from many people, and this should make Crete stand out more as a school and for our sports teams!

The construction is really coming along. They have already gotten started on the new locker rooms for the football field. They will soon start on the actual field itself. Photo taken by Yarri Anderson.
