Students discussed whether the snack shack not accepting cash was in their favor.
“Crete is losing a lot of money by not accepting cash,” said sophomore Tashyra Walker.
Lots of students have cash that they are willing to spend. Depending on the student’s age or what grade they may be in, cash will be their go-to just because they can not have access to a credit or debit card. And that can also help pay for school activities and events, even extra fun things that students would like to do, such as field trips, etc.

“I don’t think they accept cash because it’ll be a lot of kids coming to the line,” said senior David Fears.
Cash will be good for business. But each lunch mod is 30 minutes, and a long line at the snack shack can be time-consuming or even take up the entire lunch period. And that will not be fair to the student who waits in line and may or may not get service.
“If you ask your parents for cash, They can give you a couple of dollars that you can spend,” said sophomore Avona Rodgers.
It’ll also be easier for parents to give their child a few dollars rather than sending money on cash-transferring apps. Cash will be more convenient since the snack shack prices are not expensive.
I personally think that there are pros and cons when it comes to accepting cash at the snack shack. It can help the school fund different things, but it can also cause lots of business that may be hard to handle. More people means more snacks and drinks for the school to buy. Which can become a problem, but It will not be a problem that can not be solved. Maybe to help save inventory, It can even be open for certain days during the week.
Therefore, the snack shack taking cash should be taken into consideration because It will not only benefit one party but can benefit both. When It comes to situations like these, you want to look at both sides. I think this Is a 50/50 situation. The school will profit more money, but the inventory will run out sooner. And with the students, they will be able to use their cash, but It may cause them to not eat the school lunch that Is provided.
