“It’s going pretty well. We just finished our Christmas concert about a week ago. Saturday, Dec. 2. And now our practices will focus on our competition,” Show choir member Winter Brooks said.
“The show choir season so far is going great, and we have so much potential of winning so many comps,” Show Choir member Alicia Gomez said.

With show choir season almost in full effect, students have been working diligently on songs and dances and making a great team this year.
“Our opener is ‘Gold’ by Imagine Dragons, our second song is Maps by Maroon 5, and our ballad is Diamonds by Rihanna. Our boy-girl number is ‘Just Can’t Wait to be King’ and ‘Rich Girl’; our closer is ‘Treasure’ by Bruno Mars. So a lot of good songs,” Brooks said.
Practicing for this upcoming season will lead to being able to work on everything that is needed to be successful in a competition.
“On Mondays, the first two hours are mainly dancing, then singing for an hour on Wednesday, and vice versa,” Show Choir member Niya Jefferson said.
“We usually divide it up into dance and vocals, so sometimes we’ll do the first-hour dance, second-hour vocals, and third-hour dance. Sometimes, it will be the opposite, where there are two hours of vocals and one hour of dance. We just divide it up based on what we need to focus on,” Brooks said.
The team chemistry is different for everyone in show choir, and people have their own ideas of how the team chemistry is.
“I’d say we work together pretty well. Sometimes we have like arguments, or we need to put out PSAs, but it’s never anything too bad, and I think now we’re starting to feel more like a family,” Show choir member Brooks said.
“It’s not really there yet, but I think once comp season starts, it will get better,” Show choir member Niya Jefferson said.
“The team is becoming more like a family; everyone has their own clicks, but everyone will help each other out,” Show Choir member Alicia Gomez said.
This year, the show choir team is working very hard and diligently to make the best team they can to compete and win more comps. They have been doing a great job of working as a team and making it a productive season.
