How does social media consumption affect teens, such as students and the other 80% of the world?

Social media changes how we talk and think, creating opportunities and challenges. It affects our connections and perspectives, profoundly impacting our lives.

According to Isaiah Lovett, social media is a way to connect with people.

"I think the consumption is off and on. Social media is a way to connect with people with all the platforms," Lovett said.

Lovett finds social media to be a problem in the classroom.

"The phones cause many problems because students are highly addicted to our phones. So it's causing more issues in the  classroom," Lovett said.

Lauren Glover refers to the importance of social media and its global consumption.

"It's important to look at social media's consumption because, when you notice how it's changing the world, you start to realize what a device can do to this whole world," Glover said.

Arieal Wheeler talks about time management.

"People should know when it is the right time to use their phones and get off when it's the right time because there's a time and place," Wheeler said.

"It's very distracting; it perpetuates addiction; students are cheating using their phones, and it's a major problem," Mr. Naglak said.

Driver's Ed teacher Mr. Trobaugh teaches so he finds social media a crucial subject.

"However, I also feel social media has a negative impact, as it can become addictive and be detrimental to one's mental health," Mr. Trobaugh said. "I feel it is essential for students to limit their use because it takes away from their ability to succeed and accomplish their goals. I genuinely believe that we should teach cell phone etiquette, but I still abide by the school rule of no cell phones in my classroom."

Using social media a lot can make you feel bad. Limit your time, stay away from platforms, talk to real people, and share positive stuff to improve it. This helps people have a happier and more balanced online life.
