Crete Monee High School students have been wanting a new change to the lunch menu choices. This lunch system has been the same for the whole time some students have attended Crete.

The Crete lunch system has seen little to no change in the past few years, and it is not doing anything about changing school lunches. These have had students not having enough food to eat or being unable to pay for an extra snack at the snack shack.

“I think the older students should be able to fund their lunch account and buy snacks from the vending machines. If everyone does their part, it can work out well for the students and school,” junior student Sydne Maxwell said.

The other main topic of lunch is that students do not believe that the school serves enough food. This can still leave students hungry after lunch, and this is no way to resolve the issue.

“They need to give out 2 slices of pizza at lunch and add more pepperoni on it. There isn’t enough food served,” Junior Homecoming queen Lauren Glover said.

Students want more food options, such as vegan options, and less meat in everything. They also want a salad bar upgrade because some students are vegetarians.

“They should offer more vegan options to the students that aren’t fond of eating meat, and they should have more food options,” Maxwell said.

Students want a faster way to get their food. They feel that there should be a faster way to go to the cafeteria to eat. The students want all four lines open or, rather, a different way to reduce the crowding in the lines so people can drop their trays or get food from others.

“The lines at lunch are ridiculous. It’s jam-packed in the lines while people try to get their food. If something needs to be changed, it’s definitely how fast we get our food,” Amaiya Gunn said.
