Students show off their 'Spirit'

By Terrance Sandidge Sports Editor On September 18-22, Crete-Monee held its Spirit Week to show school spirit and get all the students and staff involved with the school.

Eric Rhodes, Timothy Watson, and Bennie McClain spoke about what they enjoyed about Spirit Week, what could have been better, and what could have changed.

On Monday, Sept. 18, CMHS had Class Colors Day. This is where the freshmen wore blue, sophomores wore gold, juniors wore white, and seniors wore black. On Tuesday, CMHS held Athletes Vs. Mathletes. On Wednesday, students had to recreate a picture day. For Thursday, students dressed up for character day, and the school participated in Surfers Vs Bikers on Friday.

"It was more successful because more people participated; it could have been better," Watson said.

Students had a lot of favorite days for this week.

"I will say [my favorite day] was Beachers Vs. Bikers," Rhodes said.

This was a perfect spirit day because many people participated in this one. There were a lot of people dressed up as surfers more than bikers. Also, this spirit day was the day of the Crete-Monee Warriors football game. During the game, the Warriors played Riverside Brookfield and won 42-7.

"My favorite had to be Athletes vs Mathletes because I came in here trolling with my Flames uniform on,¨ McClain said.

During this day, a lot of people dressed for this spirit day also. People also feel this was one of the more fun and participating days.

It was [my favorite day] Athletes vs Mathletes. I dressed up as a nerd,¨ Watson said.

On this day, it appeared that more people dressed up as nerds rather than athletes.

"Last year's spirit week was the best because we didn't have a throwback day [this year],¨ McClain said.

A spirit week without a throwback day is not complete. Mainly, everyone participates in Throwback Day. This day is the most enjoyable because you can dress up as your favorite decade and be yourself.

On this day, people express themselves in very many different ways because of this day. It allows them to dress up as they would have if they lived during those days. Many people missed this day and were upset because they didn't have it. Despite this, everyone still seemed to love this spirit week.
