As homecoming neared, Crete-Monee Warriors prepared to show their school spirit during spirit week. Spirit week gave students and staff a chance to dress up, have fun with friends, and build excitement for the big homecoming event. From creative outfits to popular trends, students had different ideas about what made spirit week special and how to get more people involved.

LeMarcus Price believed spirit week was a fun way to build excitement leading up to homecoming.
He stated, “I actually, I believe that it is a good way to lead up to homecoming; you know, it really shows the fun.”
Price also described spirit week as a countdown to Saturday’s homecoming. He thought the excitement should build throughout the week, making the final day even more special. Price said his favorite spirit theme would probably have been Zoom Day because he had many pajama-pants options. He also explained that students should have participated because it is fun, not because they feel like they have to. For Price, spirit week was about showing what it means to be a student, athlete, and a Warrior.
Leslie Avalos also thought spirit week was a great way for students to express themselves.
She described the themes as “really creative and fun.”
Avalos believed that participating was a good way to represent the school and show how involved students are. She also suggested using memes and popular TikTok trends for future spirit themes because they could catch students’ attention and encourage more people to participate.
William Seifert also agreed that spirit week was a good way to build excitement for homecoming.
He said, “It gives students something to look forward to before homecoming.”
Seifert also mentioned that some spirit day themes were based on what was popular online. One idea he suggested was a Spider-Man theme because the character comes in many different versions. He also pointed out that the Teen Beach Movie theme may have been harder for students who didn't have the right clothes.
Nathan Garza believed spirit week could have helped get people excited for homecoming. He explained that when more students participate, others might want to join in too. Garza suggested having a character day or a meme day because he thought many students would take part.
He also said that spirit week was about “representing our school and showing its colors.”
Overall, Crete-Monee High School’s spirit week was about more than dressing up. It gave students and staff a chance to show their creativity, support their school, and build excitement for homecoming. Whether students and staff participated in every theme or just one, spirit week helped bring the school community together and made homecoming even more memorable.
