The dance team has been having a fantastic season so far.

The dance team shows off their moves.
They showed us some of their moves at the tailgate during football season. Many people said that the team made the tailgate experience a lot better overall. They performed in the middle of the gym as students gathered around and went upstairs to get a better view.
“I was feeling like the tailgate wasn’t worth going, but then I saw the dance team, and it made it worth it,” junior Wendi Hernandez said.
Another performance that they showed off was at the pep rally. They wore their jersey uniforms and showed us a bunch of dances they put together. The pep rally was blue vs gold dance vs cheer. Students say they think the performance added a lot to this assembly.
“The performance added a lot of light and was enjoyable to watch,” said sophomore Angela Neubeck.
The dance team also performs at some boys’ basketball home games. Every time, they pop out with some new routine and moves to keep the student and parent section hyped and motivate the basketball team.
“When I go to the basketball games, I look forward to seeing the dance team perform. They always show us something new,” said freshman Victoria Santiago.
Dance tryouts were a new experience for everyone, especially since many freshmen tried out who had never been on the team before. Yet they still went with a positive attitude, hoping for the best.
“Dance tryouts were tiring because it was a lot of moving, and it did eventually get hot, but we tried our best to learn the dances and choreography,” said freshman Tiana Jones.
Overall, the girls have been putting on a fantastic season, showing us everything they’ve been practicing and putting in their best effort to make the coaches and school proud while keeping us entertained during the major event in the school.
“The dance team was fun. I did my best to make sure I made the coaches proud, and overall, I liked the dances,” said freshman Jayla Nailer.
You can try out for the dance team next year. Make sure you go prepared with leggings/shorts and some shoes you can move in; do not worry about messing them up, and have a positive attitude. You don’t have to have any previous knowledge of dance. You can come to learn as long as you’re willing to learn and put the effort in.
