I got a chance to talk to senior Bren Milburn, about the match and him placing in the top 10 and getting All- Conference honors.
“It was an honor competing and placing top 10 in all conference.” Senior, Bren Milburn said.
On September 21, 2024 Crete Monee High School went to compete in the Southland Athletic All-Conference match.
“It was fun and I had a blast competing with guys I've played against all season and winning,” Milburn said.
The team accomplishment of placing second was probably because of a few of their biggest strengths, Team Chemistry, being confident, and being consistent
“Team chemistry is great and I think that may be the strongest aspect of our game” Milburn said
“We are a very confident team and we tend to stay focused when things don’t go our way” Senior, Jayden Preston said.
I also got to learn about what weaknesses/ things to improve and what to improve about their golf skills
“ I wouldn’t say that we have any weaknesses but we do improve every aspect of our game every day” Preston said.
“ Of course there’s always areas for improvement but I feel like everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and you have to work on the thing that you’re struggling with.” Milburn said.
On top of that I got to talk to the players about how they got into the game of golf.
“My dad taught me the game of golf my freshman year and it kinda started off with that. Going to the range and teaching me the basics” Milburn said.
“Honestly my grandfather introduced me to it and he helped me fall in love with the game.” Preston said.
The team performed greatly and it was a great way to show what they are capable of at the All-Conference stage.
“The golf team is a blast and we go out and compete,” Bren Milburn said.
I got to learn how the players trained to be better and go to all-conference.
Bren Milburn said “We go to practice everyday, and we start by doing a little putt practice. Then, we get on the green (golf course) and try to putt in the hole, and after 20 minutes of that, we go to the range and we try to hit the ball straight and far.”
