The Crete-Monee Warriors football team finished with 9 wins and 3 losses on the season. The Warriors fought very hard and never gave up during the season, overcoming whatever adversity they encountered. The seniors
on the team impacted the team positively.
“I feel like the season went well, we didn't finish how we wanted and worked for, but it happens,” said senior Jamier Miller.
Although the team didn't go as far as they wanted, they held their heads high knowing that they gave it all they had.
The Warriors took a devastating loss to East St. Louis in the quarterfinals of the IHSA class 6A playoffs ending their season short.
“A message I would like to give to the underclassmen is that anything is possible with hard work and dedication,”said senior
Brandon Alexander.
“Also in order to be a winning team you have to trust your coaches and teammates,” said Alexander.
The Warriors will look forward to a breakout season next year from junior linebacker Terrance Sandige.
“My favorite win from this season had to be Joliet Catholic,” said senior Edward Clark.
“I came into that game with a chip on my shoulder knowing we were the underdogs, and we came out and showed that we belong with any team in the state,” said Clark.
According to senior Joshua Franklin, plans on playing football after high school. He is committed to Western Michigan University, a D1 program and hopes to make a big impact there his freshman year.
The Warriors have two players committed to D1 football programs right now being Lynel Billups and Joshua Franklin but do look to be more come signing day in February.
“I love this team, this was the best 4 years of football playing and growing with the guys,” from senior Lynel Billups.
“This team will always be family,” said Billups.
This season has created a bond that can't be broken between the boys. Some have been playing since they were kids and some just started freshman year.
From the start to end of the season you've seen the tremendous difference in team work and being able to come together. That is how they were able to overcome so many teams overlooking them.
The Warriors wish to keep up this family and go into next year dominating the Southland conference.
At the end of the great Warrior season they now are ranked ninth in the state of Illinois for IHSA rankings.
