The boys school soccer team has not been very good in a while, but this year they have improved. They may have not improved a lot, but they have been playing more as a team. Their current record is 7-9.

There has been a lot of improvement this year with their bond as a team.

“This season is different compared to last year because we play more as a team,“ Junior Eric Nava said.

All three interviewees agreed that as a team together they have been touching the ball a lot more and also have improved their skill a lot both individually and as a team.

“We have a lot more chemistry as a team, which helps us play together better and understand each other,“ said Junior Armani Lagunas.

For both Senior Captain Israel Vega and Lagunas, their dad is their biggest inspiration.

“Ever since I was little my dad would always take me to practices and supported me the whole way through,” Lagunas said.

“My father always lets me know what to do better and gives me advice and how to be a better player overall,” Vega also said.

Both of their commitments to the team have been very good as well. They are starters and are leaders for the team. Junior Omar Romo is a big player to change the game too.

“Omar Romo gives his confidence and is one of the best players on the team, is always giving each teammate more confidence to play” Vega said. Lagunas also said, “Omar is the smartest player whenever he has a ball at his feet, and you can always look for him on the field to be open.”

Romo, Laguna, and Vega all said they enjoy watching soccer players Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Javier Hernandez because of how dedicated they are and the commitment they put into the game not just as players but as teammates.

For Vega, this season is personal because he went through one of the more painful injuries anyone could go through. He tore his ACL.

“I tore my ACL last year and wasn’t able to play all season, so I’m hoping this year is a lot better,” Vega said.

It is also Vega’s senior year, so he is determined to make it the best as well because he is also the captain.
