"The work wasn't as easy as I thought, but we did it. The 97 streak is great, and we'll keep it because we're amazing," said Dessyre Clifford, Sophomore.

Freshman Leah Guillermo mentioned how it was much easier than she had initially thought and had a gut feeling they'd win and get the winning streak of 97 matches. As far as their first competition, she had considered it was difficult.

"It was very stressful, and we had to rely on our teammates to win. I'm trying to ignore the streak. It's just another competition. I don't want to get it in my head if we lose," said Kayla Tomasevich, Senior.

Junior Sammy McCandless said he felt prepared enough for the competition and had done better as a team. He felt the freshmen really stepped up and contributed more. Sammy is very proud of the math team and looks forward to winning 100 matches as their new streak.

"We worked hard for the new streak this past month. Although I believe Thornwood will make a comeback in the next few months," said Mr. Noble, Math Team Coach.

According to the members of the math team, they really enjoy the club. They also really think it can strengthen their skills and knowledge.

"It helps you with your actual math classes, and your math classes help you with the math team," said Cadence Argue, Sophomore.

Junior Ryne Bartling stated that he thinks more people should join the math team and that it's easier than people say it is. Besides having fun and winning competitions, the math team is also suitable for strengthening knowledge for everyday life.

"It helps us prepare for topics such as PSAT and SAT testing," said Serenity Lopez.

Matthew Garcia also states that it helps improve your mental math skills. The members of the math team also tend to get along and cooperate with their peers.

"The teachers help us during meetings if we need it," said Serenity Lopez.

According to Sophomore Dessyre Clifford, she believes Sophomore Cadence Argue is one of the smartest female sophomores on the math team.

"It's tough to pick the best member of the math team because I believe anyone and everyone can go as far as they want. Everyone has the potential to do anything they want. It's hard to measure," said Mr. Noble.

To join the math team, all you need to do is attend practices and get to know the team! The math team is all year round - From September to March. They will work with other sports/activities to accommodate students. The club meets after school on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:05 - 3:50.
