The dance team has been active over October, making appearances at the football games and at the tailgate on Oct. 6.

The dance team shows off some moves in the stands at the Warriors football game.
Lyric Buckley was on the team during the summer, then stopped for about a month and a half, but eventually came back to her love of dancing in August. For Lyric, she has loved dancing since she has been a young girl.
“I usually just learn dances and do them on my own or with my friends,” Buckley said.
Buckley said her favorite dance was the one they performed at the tailgate.
“My favorite dance is probably the tryout dance and the dance we just did at the tailgate,” Buckley said. “Practice is fun for the most part, but whenever we constantly mess up, they give us straddles. It’s not fun.”
In addition to her experience in CMHS dance, Lyric has advice for all those interested in dancing.
“It’s all about energy, and if you mess up, just keep going,” she said.
Jakiyah Mack has been on the CMHS dance team for a little over a month now, but this isn’t her first time hitting a groove on the floor. Mack has also done cheer and gymnastics and has been a part of another dance team before she joined the CMHS group. Furthermore, Jakiyah talks about the pressure going up to the point of the dance at the tailgate.
“I was nervous going on the floor, but once we began dancing, I was having fun, and I was enjoying the experience,” Mack said. “Remembering all the different dances is probably the hardest part. But I practice at home, so that helps.”
For someone who wants to be on the dance team, Jakiyah said you should talk to Ms. Brown about opening spots. She recommends being prepared if there is another audition in the future.
