The dance team has been very active this summer, raising money for uniforms and competition.
“If I were to become the coach of the team I would actually feel real honored,” said senior and new member of the dance team, Keimani Tate.
Being a member means something and actually having control of a team is not just some title.
The dance team did many activities this summer. They had two car washes to raise money for more events and uniforms. They also woke up on early mornings to go to dance camps.
One of those camps was named UDA, and the other was named Little Village Dance Clinic, which they learned new choreography from choreographers.
Another thing the team has done was helping with the St. Jude drive. They wrote letters and donated money to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Finally, let us get to the awards that the dance team has earned throughout the UDA camp. The team won the Superior trophy, and was the second place winner in home routine.
The Back-to-School Parade in University Park was something the dance team was part of. They danced down the street with the band and the football team.
It was hot and a little rainy, but fun. It will be a moment the team can cherish and bond together for times to come.
“The uniforms are cute, and they really bring out my figure,” said junior Angelique Craft, the co-captain of the team. She has been on the team since the eighth grade.
Dance coach Ms. Brown has been coaching dance for 13 years. She has been coaching the CMHS dance team for four years and has been enjoying every year of it.
“I absolutely love coaching this team! Like I said, every year they get a little better. We are slowly building to a championship team. We won second in state last year and hopefully this year we will win first,” Brown said.
There are also boys on the dance team, which some people find weird, but it is really normal.
The boys on the team change up some of the moves and uniforms to make them comfortable.
The team has been changing each year. Each year there is something new about the team.
If it is not the new uniforms, then it is the new people or the new talent brought to the team.
