Cross country girls practice running laps in the fieldhouse.

The girls are pleased about their times, scores, and how the team is progressing. They feel that their team chemistry is better and bonded.

“The season has gone really good this year. We are able to run faster than we ever did last year, so I feel like that’s a good thing,” said student-athlete Nicole Lomax.

“I feel like all the players on cross country are nice and great. We’re all nice to each other, and we’re all able to encourage each other to do our best each and every day,” Lomax continued.

Several teammates have been saying the same thing as well. This year, all the cross-country girls have been having more fun than last year and are closer to their teammates than ever.

“I feel like the current team is very hard-working and dedicated. I really like this team it’s better than last year. I don’t know, we just work well together so yeah, I like it,” student-athlete Aaliyah Eubanks said.

“I’ve pr’ed at the majority of our meets as well as a lot of my teammates, and I’ve gotten medals at, I believe, all my meets, so that’s good,” student-athlete Aaliyah Eubanks said.

Aaliyah expressed that their team is small, so they haven’t been able to place, but they have been making outstanding progress this season.

With the good times and scores they’ve been getting this season, some of them have been thinking about doing cross country in college as well. They are qualified to do it, and their coach feels the same way.

“Yeah, maybe like the beginning of college. I’m probably gonna join cross country or track,” student-athlete Amy Mojica said.

With their chemistry and progress, they are making a great team.
