The Warrior boys kick off their season with their first game being next Monday, March 13th. This year's Warrior’s baseball team is starting off the season with extra games on the schedule this year with 36 in total.

The addition of coach Meyer stepping up for the head coach role for another sport which is now baseball. Players sound excited considering Meyers was already a part of the coaching staff to begin with.

The staff also has assistant coach Stanfield returning this year. The players seem pumped and ready for the season. Also, with the addition of the last assistant coach, coach Milburn.

“The coaching staff, I am excited to see what they have stored for the season,” said junior Derrion Beard.

Almost everybody returning or just now starting high school baseball has stated that they have been playing for a long time.

“I like our environment, I feel that the team is focussed, and we can continue to compete,” said sophomore Bren Milburn.

With the whole team returning from last year due to the majority of the starting roster being underclassmen. Most players had a good productive off season and worked on their game and gained lots of muscle.

“We started off very sloppy but day 3 of tryouts and on everything started to click with everyone,” said junior Zachary Hannigan

The players kicked off the season a little behind due to starting winter conditioning a couple of months later compared to other schools around the area. With that setback being said the players were still able to strive through and get a lot of work done in a short amount of time.

Tryouts ended on March 1st, finalizing the varsity roster with 16 players. Each player sounds ecstatic considering that the team's most recent practice sessions have been perfect for the team.

“If we continue to compete day by day we should have a bright future,” said Milburn.

Not only has the practice environment improved, but the competition continues to rise around this young team. The ability to pick one another up and grow off of each other.

With the team adapting to the new coaching staff and still having a lot of underclassmen, they aren't afraid of criticism and are willing to go the extra mile to get what needs to be done.

If this Warriors team continues to strive with this attitude, big things can be expected in this spring season.
