Every year at CMHS, the seniors take a once-a-year trip, usually somewhere fun, voted by the senior class. This year, the seniors are going to Six Flags Great America. The vote was originally a tie between three places: the Aquarium, Great Wolf Lodge, and Six Flags.

Many students have been to Six Flags before, but it sounds like there’s always a good time there. Six Flags is mainly known for its fun and crazy rides, such as The Raging Bull, The Goliath, The Joker, and a few more very frightening rides. They also host an event called Fright Fest every year around Halloween.
Some prefer Fright Fest over the standard setting and decor. Fright Fest usually has people in very detailed costumes and scary designs to chase or run around. They also often have props such as chainsaws, hammers, bats, etc, nothing too horrific.
Some seniors had to talk about their personal experiences and the upcoming trip.
“I’ve been going to Six Flags since I was little, and it’s always been fun and occasionally scary. It’s way more fun when you’re with friends or family and get to make it to every ride. But Fright Fest with the right people, yeah, it’s almost unbeatable,” Jordan Outlaw said.
It seems like Jordan enjoys himself more than he does at Six Flags. Let’s see which students prefer Fright Fest or the normal setting and why.
“I like Fright Fest, but I don’t like how I can’t ever see anything. It’s almost too dark being up so high and coming so far down, barely able to see it, definitely makes you a little nervous. But honestly, that’s one of the main reasons that makes everything as fun as it is,” Jaydon Watts said.
Let’s see some of the most popular or liked rides, or even the scariest ones.
“The Raging Bull and the American Eagle are my favorite rides. The Eagle’s kinda old now, but it’s still a classic, one of the first rides I really liked. The Raging Bull is just crazy all around: the turns, loops, and how steep the drop is. It’s definitely one of the best rides for sure,” Jayden Preston said.
It looks like the Crete-Monee seniors are in for a great time at Great America. It sounds like everyone is ready and excited to have a good time. The small conversations around show that Crete has once again been able to make a fun trip for their seniors. It sounds like there will be lots of fun and, of course, full stomachs! If you were a senior trying to have one fun trip with your friends and looking forward to a good time, where would you go?
