The Fall Fest was a much-anticipated event at our school. Students gathered to enjoy a day of games, music, and dancing. For many, it was an opportunity to take a break from the usual routine and have fun with friends. However, while some students had an amazing time, others felt there’s was room for improvement in the event’s organization and activities.

Mercy Bautista, an 11th-grade student, shared how much fun she had with her friends, playing in the games, dancing, and enjoying the music.

“I had a great time with my friends, and I also got to play in the game,” she said.

She was invited because she maintained perfect attendance, but unfortunately, one of her close friends couldn’t attend due to missing a few days. Despite that, Mercy encouraged everyone to follow the rules and maintain good attendance so more events like this could be possible.

“I think it’s important for the school to remind students that following the rules allows us to have more events,” Mercy added.

She emphasized how fun it is to spend time with friends at these events and encouraged others to enjoy the experience while they can.

“When you graduate, you won’t get to do this anymore, so make sure you have a great time,” Mercy said.

Natalia Franco, a senior, had a more mixed opinion about the Fall Fest. While she didn’t find it to be the best event ever, she noted that it wasn’t the worst either.

“There’s definitely room for improvement,” she said.

Natalia was invited because she had no tardies or unexcused absences, and she appreciated how the event offered a break from the regular school day.

“There were different stations for games and basketball on one side of the field house,” she explained. “But I think the event could have been organized a bit better.”

Despite her mixed feelings, Natalia’s favorite part was the music, especially when they played El Caballo Dorado, a popular Mexican song. She believes these events encourage participation and give students something enjoyable to look forward to, which makes them more likely to attend future events.

Both Mercy and Natalia agree that Fall Fest was a valuable opportunity for students to socialize and enjoy a break from schoolwork. Mercy’s advice to follow the rules and maintain good attendance highlights the importance of school events in building a sense of community.

On the other hand, Natalia suggests the school continue hosting events but focus on improving them to make the experience even better for everyone. With more student participation and some tweaks, Fall Fest could become a highly anticipated tradition at our school.

Students of Crete-Monee High School said they enjoyed this year’s Fall Festival from Oct. 31.

The Fall Festival included music, game systems, sports, and more. The fest was held to reward students for good attendance.

“Yes, it was fun and kept me entertained,” Jayden Watts said when asked if the Fall Festival was fun for him or not.

Student Jordan Outlaw added that it was a good reward and incentive for the kids who were able to be at school on time every day and get to all their classes.

“I think it’s a good incentive for being at school and on time.”

Student Jayden Watts said that the event motivates kids to get to school on time every day. He also believes that the school should have more of these events to improve attendance.

“Yes, because it makes kids want to come to school,” Watts said.

Student Brian Miller thinks that zero tardies and absences are too strict restrictions.

“Yes, because sometimes it’s not always the kid’s fault why they are late,” Brian Miller said. “It should be like three tardies and three absences. I think the event is great; the only thing that I would change is that they had no food or beverages.”

All three students said they would like to see more events like Fall Fest.

“Yes, of course, I think it gives the kids a break from all the mental stress that comes from school,” Outlaw said.

Jayden Watts added, “Yeah, I think a lot of kids will start being on time and more present at school, seeing what they missed out on,” Watts said. Brian Miller agreed with both Jayden Watts and Jordan Outlaw.

With all that being said, it’s safe to say that a majority of the students who met the requirements enjoyed the Fall Festival and would like more events similar to the event.
