Crete Monee’s high school band is welcoming their new class of students and band members this year pretty well. According to students and members, they’ve contributed positively to the band.

According to students, in and outside the band, people have taken a liking to this year's freshmen. A name that commonly pops up when speaking about the best incoming students would be Nicole Lomax.

“Nicole is the only flute player in the symphonic band. She plays well, and you can hear her well. ” Says Daya Hendricks, a color guard and saxophone player. Apparently, people are so far fond of our newest flute player.

Many students would say that Nicole is carrying her section and that she’s adaptable to constructive criticism. Trinity Jackson, a saxophone player in the school band agrees with this statement.

“Kimora is really committed and a good role model for this band,” Daya Hendricks also adds. Kimora is a new member of the band, a freshman this year.

Crete Monee’s band is getting ready to perform their best at this year's competition, taking place at Sandwich Music fest, on October 16th, 2022. The goal is to get first place, or at least top five at the competition against eighteen other bands in the state of Illinois.

Band members have been trying their hardest to achieve that goal, practicing at home and giving good effort during practices, this goes for many old and new members.

“I think the band is really good, especially the percussion,” says ChristalSeymor, a junior here. She adds on saying, “Pedro is really good at the drums,”.

Pedro is a junior and also a new member of the band. Students in and outside the band have taken a liking to him and have noticed his hard work, as well as the skill he brings to the table.

So, according to some students, the band seems to be pretty nice. They are getting along well and the members seem great, but even so, there are some bumps that band members feel they need to hurdle over.

As reported by Daya Hendricks, “The band is really good, but we need more commitment from other members, so we can be more prepared for competition,”.

So what does this mean for the band? Many believe that there is a bright future ahead If they continue to work hard while gaining more hardworking band members. This could promise a sure path of improvement which will lead them to success at future competitions and events.
