The 2019 homecoming dance was not as much about the dancing or food, but the experience. It was a time to get dressed up and have a great time with friends, adding to the high school experience.

CMHS was filled with dancing, eating, and interaction, all leading to a fun time. Students came into the fieldhouse, which was beautifully decorated with large masquerade decorations, lights, and objects that made the room glow.

Students got the chance to watch a masquerade dance brought to them by their very own classmates. The dance was elegant and had the whole crowd cheering.

Along with that, the students got to see who the winners of this year’s homecoming court where. This year, students and staff voted Connor Myre for homecoming king and Aaliyah Thomas for homecoming queen.

“The dance was fun and gave me something to do on my Saturday night,” said Daniel Mitchell, a freshman who attended the homecoming dance. Once again, the night was giving students opportunities to have fun.

Why did students not attend? Was is due to out of school events, bad rumors of a boring dance, or cost of the event? Were any of these reasons that you did not come to homecoming? Or was it because it was a CMHS student event only?

“I don’t really know the exact reason,” said dean Ms. Ross.

Couples who attended homecoming tended to do so by matching with bright colors, along with astonishing clothing. Some young men asked their date in creative and meaningful ways, to express feelings and show their love for their date.

Other students decided to go in groups for a better experience. Groups of varying sizes filled the tables to converse with each other. This led to the dance floor where students showed off talented dance moves.

Some students came to homecoming and continued the fun experience throughout the night and the weekend.

“My friends and I went to Culvers,” said freshman Jaden Roberts.

This year’s homecoming dance did not have any altercations including fights or arguing. Students showed they could control themselves for the great reward of the homecoming experience.
