By Jakiyah Mack Features and Entertainment Reporter At Crete-Monee High School, graduation day is May 29. As they approach graduation, students will probably think back on the path that led them here. High school has been a period of development, difficulty, and life-changing experiences. Every experience, from their first day of freshman year to their last moments of senior year, has influenced who they are now.

Graduation starts a new chapter full of promise, aspirations, and limitless opportunities. The memories they’ve made during high school will be cherished for life; whether good or bad, they’ve made students who they are today. Caden Wiley’s favorite senior year memory was the pep rally in April. Having memories like that can relieve the pressure of schoolwork. He looks forward to the senior trip to Six Flags.
“Winning our first tournament to start the season for basketball was an epic memory for me and my teammates as well,” Jordan Outlaw said.
As senior year comes to an end, students are probably thinking about college. The pressure of choosing where they want to go might be eating at them, and the anticipation of college decision day is building up.
“I plan to attend Alabama A&M University to pursue a business administration degree,” Caden Wiley said.
The air is filled with anxiety, expectancy, and enthusiasm. To be prepared, students needed to submit community hours by May 9 for prom and May 16 at the Villa Cesare Banquets in Schererville, Indiana; turn in textbooks by May 16; and attend the mandatory graduation rehearsal on May 28 at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Graduation will take place the following day.
Many people are also emotionally getting ready behind the scenes by reflecting on their school years, friendships, and accomplishments.
“I’m excited for graduation so I can move on and start my college journey.” “I’ve prepared by getting all of the credits needed and essentially making sure everything is organized for graduation,” Jamal Williams said.
The students at Crete have evolved so much since their freshman year, coming from the admin and teachers at Crete. Reflecting on academic, social, and personal growth over the past four years is crucial for seniors as they prepare for college, employment, or other life stages, as the students at Crete remember the journey as enjoyable, challenging, and life-changing. Vocalized by the students, Crete-Monee High School will always be home forever.
